Attahiyat dua with Urdu & English Translation

Attahiyat Dua is a very special prayer that Muslims recite while sitting during Salah (Namaz). It is read in the sitting position after the second Rak’ah and again before finishing the prayer. This dua is a way of showing respect, peace, and love towards Allah and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

اَلتَّحِيَّاتُ لِلّٰهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلٰى عِبَادِ اللّٰهِ الصَّالِحِينَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ۔

تمام زبانی عبادتیں، نمازیں اور نیک اعمال اللہ ہی کے لیے ہیں۔ اے نبی ﷺ! آپ پر سلام ہو، اللہ کی رحمت اور برکتیں آپ پر نازل ہوں۔ ہم پر اور اللہ کے نیک بندوں پر بھی سلامتی ہو۔ میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی عبادت کے لائق نہیں اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ محمد ﷺ اللہ کے بندے اور اس کے رسول ہیں۔

All verbal acts of worship, prayers, and good deeds are for Allah alone. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you. Peace be upon us and upon all righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His servant and messenger.

When to Read

  • It is recited in every prayer (Salah) during the last sitting (Qa’dah) after completing the prostrations (Sujood).
  • In a two-rak‘ah prayer, it is read once before Salam.
  • In three or four-rak‘ah prayers, it is read in both the middle and last sittings.

Attahiyat Dua is one of the most important parts of Salah, as it signifies direct communication with Allah.
