Namaz (Salah/Prayer) Timings in Pakistan are changed daily according to the Location, Date, and position of the sun. These timings are different across cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, and others.

Factors Affecting Namaz Time in Pakistan

Prayer times are not the same across the entire country. They depend on:

  • City Location – Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar all have slight differences.
  • SeasonsIn summer, Fajr starts earlier and Isha is later, while in winter, Fajr starts later and Isha is earlier.
  • Calculation Methods – Some mosques follow University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi, while others use ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) or Umm al-Qura (Saudi Arabia).

Forbidden Times for Namaz

In Islam, there are certain times when offering nafl (optional) prayers is prohibited. This rule is to prevent resemblance with sun-worship. According to the Hanafi school of thought, the forbidden times are:

  1. Sunrise – From the start of sunrise until about 15–20 minutes later.
  2. Zenith (Midday) – When the sun is at its highest point, just before Dhuhr.
  3. Sunset – From the start of sunset until the sun fully disappears.

Notes:

  • Missed fard (obligatory) prayers can still be offered in these times.
  • Funeral prayer (Salat al-Janazah) and prostration for recitation of the Qur’an may also be performed.
  • The prohibition mainly applies to nafl (voluntary) prayers.
