Itikaf ki Dua with English & Urdu Translation
The Itikaf ki Dua is recited when entering the mosque with the intention of performing Itikaf. It expresses one’s sincerity and complete trust in Allah while making the niyyah (intention) for this sacred worship.

بِسْمِ اللهِ دَخَلْتُ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَنَوَيْتُ سُنَّةَ الِاعْتِكَافِ

اللہ کے نام سے میں مسجد میں داخل ہوتا ہوں، اور اسی پر بھروسہ کرتا ہوں، میں نے سنتِ اعتکاف کی نیت کی۔

In the name of Allah, I enter (the mosque) and only upon Him (Allah) do I rely.
I am making the intention of Sunnah I’tikaf.

Reference
This dua is derived from the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who regularly performed Itikaf in the last ten nights of Ramadan. (Sahih Bukhari – Hadith No. 2026)
When to Recite
- When entering the mosque to begin Itikaf.
- After performing wudu (ablution) and being in a state of purity.
- Commonly recited during the last ten days of Ramadan, but can also be read for nafl (voluntary) Itikaf.
- The dua should be said with full concentration and pure intention to seek Allah’s pleasure.

Important Note
- Itikaf need to be achieved with sincerity and endurance, heading off useless communication or worldly distractions.
- Spend time in Qur’an recitation, dhikr (remembrance), and dua.
- Maintain purity and humility within the path of the stay.
- The essence of Itikaf lies in connecting with Allah, in search of forgiveness, and reflecting on one’s deeds.
