istikhara ki dua

Istikhara ki Dua is one of the most beautiful and practical prayers in Islam. It is a special dua taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to seek Allah’s guidance when making important decisions in life — whether it’s about marriage, business, travel, studies, or any other matter.

The word “Istikhara” means “to seek goodness” or “to ask Allah to guide you towards what is best.” It shows a believer’s complete trust (tawakkul) in Allah’s wisdom and understanding that only He knows what is truly good for us, both in this world and the Hereafter.

When and How to Perform Istikhara

Istikhara is finished with the aid of supplying rak’ahs of voluntary (nafl) prayer, preferably at night time, followed by using the recitation of the Dua e Istikhara.

Steps to Perform Istikhara:

  1. Perform wudu (ablution) and face the Qiblah.
  2. Offer rak’ahs of nafl prayer with full attention and sincerity.
  3. After completing the prayer, recite the Dua e Istikhara with faith and agree with Allah.
  4. Ask Allah to make the problem smooth if it is ideal for you, and to show it away if it’s far dangerous.
  5. Go to sleep after reciting the dua, and consider that Allah will guide your coronary heart — through ease, readability, or events — no longer necessarily via a dream.

Dua e Istikhara in English Translation

O Allah, I seek goodness through Your knowledge and ability through Your power, and I ask You from Your immense favor.

You have power, and I have none. You know all things, and I do not. You are the Knower of the unseen.

O Allah, if You know that this matter is good for me in my religion, my worldly life, and my outcome, then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me.

And if you know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my worldly life, or my outcome, then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree for me what is good wherever it may be, and make me pleased with it.

(Note: When reciting, you may replace “this matter” with the specific issue you’re seeking guidance for.)
