اے اللہ! تُو میرا رب ہے، تیرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں۔ تُو نے مجھے پیدا کیا اور میں تیرا بندہ ہوں، میں تیری عہد پر اور وعدے پر جتنا کر سکتا ہوں قائم ہوں۔ میں نے جو کچھ کیا ہے اس کے شر سے تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں۔ تیرے مجھ پر احسانات کا اقرار کرتا ہوں اور اپنے گناہ کا بھی اقرار کرتا ہوں۔ پس مجھے بخش دے کیونکہ تیرے سوا کوئی گناہوں کو معاف نہیں کر سکتا۔
Sayyidul Istighfar Dua in English
O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.
Hadith Reference
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said about this supplication:
'The best supplication for seeking forgiveness is to say: [Sayyidul Istighfar]...' (Bukhari 8 - 75)
He further stated:
'Whoever says it during the day with firm belief in it and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be among the people of Paradise; and if anyone says it at night with firm belief in it and dies before the morning, he will be among the people of Paradise.' (Bukhari 8 - 75)
